My Individual Blog Post by Lynda Hoffpauir
My experience during the Public Service Announcement Video Project is one of mixed comments. I would like to say that this project was positive but that statement would not cover the vast array of emotions concerning the effort of fulfilling the course requirements. Our group's pre-production efforts began as we started to create a team that ended up being too large. After much discussion we finally arrived at a consensus as to how to split to group. Our group worked toward week 3 assignment requirements by selecting a topic and developing a shot list and script. We were very successful at all three but soon discovered that we had created way too much material for a 60 second PSA. We did have many trials and errors from selecting narration dialogue to finding the appropriate application to use for the editing and final steps of creating the video. We also had to work through communication efforts using Wiki pages, email, cell phone and the course discussion board. We also attempted to use the private chart during webinar meetings held by the professor of the class. It was difficult to continually keep in touch and update all of the required information for assignments. Our group could have improved the graphics and the quality of the sound during narration. I feel our topic was a great area for older students, college students and adults. We created everything used in our video so we were able to use the Creative Commons license for copyright.
